China is one of the most promising growth markets in the world – including for Bertelsmann. Founded in 2008, the Bertelsmann Asia Investments Fund (BAI) is an evidence of the Corporate’s long-term commitment to China. BAI focuses on consumption upgrade, social media & content, China based global companies, tech & infrastructure and finance. BAI has invested in more than 180 startups so far, of which about several companies are listed on different exchanges and many have achieved the status of a "Unicorn".

Bertelsmann India Investments (BII) focuses its holdings on the digital, education, media and services sectors. The fund's investments include the furnishing portal Pepperfry and the e-commerce enabler Shiprocket. In the field of higher education, BII invested among others in the training company Eruditus Executive Education and the education provider iNurture. BII also holds shares in the fintech company Rupeek and the fresh meat provider Licious.

BDMI is a venture capital fund that specifically invests in innovative and emerging digital media companies in the United States. BDMI supports startups in their networking with Bertelsmann's divisions and growing into successful players in the digital media landscape through collaborations. The BDMI portfolio comprises more than 90 investments, including startups such as the next-generation publisher Clique Media, the e-commerce company Food52, and the online video marketer Jukin Media.
